Debbie Kirkland

Debbie Kirkland has lived most of her life in the music world. A Washington DC native who graduated from the acclaimed Duke Ellington High School Of The Arts and The University of Maryland. Debbie Kirkland always knew she would be a recording artist. Fueled by her deep desire to share her gift and her love of the music she recorded and released her debut project “In Session” and had been consistently packing the houses in such venues as The Kennedy Center, The Capital Jazz Fest, The East Coast Jazz Fest and world renowned Blues Alley.

Best described as a jazz fusion hybrid, “In Session” incorporates a wide range of influences from traditional jazz to Brazilian, pop and funk and has been rapturously declared “poetic, ” “alluring,” and “sensual” an allusion both to the unique sound and the woman. The album and Debbie – whose vocal power and dexterity has led reviewers to compare her sound to that of jazz greats Nancy Wilson, and Eloise Laws and her style of music to Dianne Reeves and Sade – have received both critical acclaim and an ever-expanding army of slavish devotees across the country and abroad. Her inaugural effort proves to be on the money. The CD’s first single “Who,” was placed on heavy rotation on some of the largest urban adult/contemporary stations from California to Washington DC and from Texas to New York. “In Session” has also migrated across the pond and is being played in Germany, Italy and other parts of Europe.

The woman who has shared the stage with some of the greatest names in music, including, Lonnie Liston Smith, Marcus Miller, George Duke, Chuck Mangione and Pieces Of A Dream, to name a few, is fast becoming an established artist due to her strong radio presence and exuberant live performances, whether she is in a warm, intimate space or a large amphitheatre.

Sophisticated and sultry, Debbie is a seasoned performer who has traveled the world touring in Africa, Europe, the United States and the Middle East.
